Additional Grantmaking

Opportunity Grants

A small fund will be available to respond to an issue or request outside the Foundation’s Program Priority Areas in a reasonable amount of time. Examples of an “opportunity” might be a response to an emergency or unexpected event, a unique idea or pilot project, or a request by another area funding partner to join them in a collaborative effort. A small fund will be available to respond to an issue or request outside FCH Program Priority

How to Apply

Applicants interested in applying for this funding should submit a letter of intent. Letters of Intent will be evaluated on:

  • Clarity of problem statement;
  • Relevance of the request to FCH’s priorities and geographic area;
  • Operational soundness of the approach outlined;
  • Feasibility of sustainability after funding;
  • Appropriate balance between budget requested and project being funding.

Organizations can submit more than one Letter of Intent but only one project per agency will be funded at any given time. Those of interest to the Foundation will be invited to submit a full proposal. There is no timetable for submission of letters of intent.

Donor Restricted Grants

Donor Restricted grants are those gifts received by the Foundation with specific restrictions on the use of the funds. Currently the Foundation manages the following funds:

Prescription Assistance Fund — The Foundation directs and supports a Prescription Assistance Program which originated from the directives of several donor advised funds to help pay medical expenses of those in need.

Sue Stanton Memorial Fund — This fund is restricted to funding in the area of pediatric health. This fund was fully expensed in FY2005.

Medical Education Fund — The Foundation works with the medical community to identify and support learning opportunities for health care providers on community health issues.
