Program/Communications Officer, Gertrude O’Sullivan

Gertrude O’Sullivan has been doing public relations, publicity, general business administration and film and video production for all of her professional life. She began as the Administrator of Advertising for Pepsi Cola International where her responsibilities included being the Comptroller for all of the marketing departments. Since moving to Litchfield County in 1979, she has used her experience to work in the non–profit world helping health and human service agencies conduct projects, promote their services and produce educational or promotional videos. Many of her projects have produced identifying data that was eventually used by organizations or municipalities in the process of addressing service gaps such as dental services for seniors, referral services for non-English speaking, and transportation for home–bound and at–risk elderly. She takes particular pride in the fact that the results of three of her needs assessment projects focusing on seniors were then used as a catalyst in establishing a senior center in one community and a community center in another. As a video producer, she is a Northeast Regional Emmy nominee and a recipient of a Telly and an Aurora Award in the field of education for Exposed: The Continuing Story of AIDS dealing with HIV/AIDS prevention among teens in rural America. Throughout the years, she has also worked as a member or a volunteer on a board/council/committee for numerous organizations including the Special Olympics, CT AIDS Bike Tour, American Cancer Society, Northwest Transit, and the Area Agency on Aging.
